Deborah Treliving’s Sketchbooks showing in “Life Illustrated” Devon Guild of Craftsmen Exhibition
Friday 2 October – Sunday 15 November 2015 10am – 5.30pm daily.
For more information please see forthcoming exhibitions here.

Deborah uses 3 types of sketchbooks; one for sketching in the countryside, one for collages and thematic ones for an amalgamation of sketching and collage.

The countryside around Cockington with its footpaths and bridleways gives great scope for Deborah’s studies of fields, boundaries, trees and birds in flight. She prepares pages in the studio with washes which she works on in the field with a range of media including pencil, watercolour, acrylic and pen.

Abstract studies
Deborah creates mini abstract collages from old prints cut out or torn and frequently overworked. She uses these as a reference book and a source of inspiration, often revisiting pages and re-working them.

Windows sketchbook
In this sketchbook Deborah has experimented and played with ideas on a theme; sketching from life and photos as well as collaging from prints and found objects.
